The BNZ Crusaders Super Rugby team take on New Zealand’s Olympic Rio All Stars in the 34th CFNZ Charity Cricket match on 11 December.
Enjoy the free family day out in Christchurch watching the Crusaders going into bat for CF in the 20/20 match against the All Star team including some of NZ’s Olympians and Paralympians including bronze medallist Tom Walsh, Rugby 7’s Sam Dickson, 4x Olympian javelin thrower Stu Farquhar, shot putter Dale Stevenson, hockey Olympian Bradley Shaw, and Paralympians Rory McSweeney, Byron Raubenheimer and William Stedman.
There are sausage sizzles, bouncy castles, autograph signings, a charity auction and also a children’s cricket academy, held by Evolution Sports Coaching where former NZ cricketers Chris Harris and Geoff Allott which provide tips and guidance for young cricketers. There are prizes for the best players. Book online for a spot in the academy for a $10 donation to CFNZ or Ph 021 2900989.
All funds raised go to supporting CFNZ’s mission to improve the quality of life for people with CF and their families – striving for normal life expectancy.
This year CFNZ has introduced a poster child for the event, Harry, who is 7-years-old and has CF. He loves the Crusaders and the Charity Cricket event, and being the poster child means Harry got to have fun with his sporting heroes at a special photo shoot with the Crusaders (see left).
BNZ Crusaders player Mitch Drummond will be stepping up to the crease on the day to captain the Crusaders cricketers David Havili, Quin Strange, Jed Brown, Mitch Hunt, Bryn Hall, Richie Mo’unga, George Bridge, Jack Goodhue, Jordan Taufua, Leon Fukofuka and Tim Bateman.
